The hack squat is a great squat variation that also works the upper body musculature like a deadlift. Change What You’re Doing

Posted by admin on 28th April 2008

Are you getting the results you want from your strength and muscle building efforts? If not, how long have you been on your current routine and how many sets/reps do you do in a workout?

Many coaches recommend making changes in your routine every three to four weeks, yet a surprising number of people stay on the same routine for months, if not years on end. Your body adapts to a training program relatively quickly, so if you don’t make regular changes it is not surprising that results may be slow in coming.

Another problem is that many people fall prey to the more is better approach. If 4-8 sets is good, 12-16 or even more must be better. This approach is not generally recommended for the natural trainer. Your body grows bigger and stronger when you recuperate from training. If you do too much training, you don’t recuperate and if don’t recuperate you don’t grow.

The bottom line is that if you aren’t making progress, you need to make changes to what you are doing.

Tom Platz In Action

Posted by admin on 26th April 2008

Here’s a vid of one of my all time favourites, Tom Platz training and posing. One of the most popular bodybuilders of all time, Tom is considered to have one of the most amazing sets of legs in all bodybuilding. On top of his bodybuilding accomplishments, he is a truly nice guy. I met Tom at a seminar in Australia in the mid 1980′s and I was truly impressed with his attitude and approach to training and life. He is currently writing a book on his experiences surrounding the controversial 1981 Mr Olympia. If you are interested in finding out more about the Golden Eagle check out his forum. In the video, please ignore the fact that he is wearing an ugly green belt, when you can do 23 reps with 500lb, you can wear anything you want. (^_^)
