Change What You’re Doing

Are you getting the results you want from your strength and muscle building efforts? If not, how long have you been on your current routine and how many sets/reps do you do in a workout?
Many coaches recommend making changes in your routine every three to four weeks, yet a surprising number of people stay on the same routine for months, if not years on end. Your body adapts to a training program relatively quickly, so if you don’t make regular changes it is not surprising that results may be slow in coming.
Another problem is that many people fall prey to the more is better approach. If 4-8 sets is good, 12-16 or even more must be better. This approach is not generally recommended for the natural trainer. Your body grows bigger and stronger when you recuperate from training. If you do too much training, you don’t recuperate and if don’t recuperate you don’t grow.
The bottom line is that if you aren’t making progress, you need to make changes to what you are doing.
