Training and the Immune System
Posted by admin on October 15th, 2008
If you are training long and hard or at high intensity, with less than adequate recovery, you should be aware of the dangers of overtraining. One of these dangers is the potential suppression of the immune system. The immune system is the bodies protective mechanism and if suppressed, you increase your chance of catching colds, flu and other diseases. If you contract a nasty “bug,” you could be out of the gym for ages, so make sure that you have adequate recovery. It is far better to have adequate rest than face the other consequences.
Remember that “more is better” is not always the correct approach to take.
